What a day! Thank you @BAFTA #BAFTAGames for such a beautiful ceremony to celebrate the work of the last year. To say I was honored to be invited is an understatement of understatements. It has been a dream I didn’t let myself dream because it seemed too far out of reach. While I would have loved to celebrate in person with everyone at the beautiful venue in the UK- it was such a joy to see and hang out with my fellow nominees during the show and to meet so many wonderful talented creators who love this industry, the fans and their craft so much. Thank you to the many many people who taught me, guided me and supported me so that I could experience today- from family, to teachers, directors, agents, producers, creative teams and more. It isn’t one job or one project that makes the dream real- it’s learning and growing throughout the journey of your life and your career. And I am so excited to see what I get to learn next! Buckle up, it’s a long one. 😂To be completely honest, the New Year always has me clinging to the previous year. And after last year, it seemed odd that I would be a little reluctant to let it go. It’s not up for debate that 2020 was unprecedentedly rough, and full of grief and sadness. So why on earth would I want to hold on to it? Did good things happen? Sure. Did unquestionably painful and devastating things happen? Uh. Obviously yes. But as I thought about it- I wanted to cling to what I KNEW. The unknown of 2021 is so foreign, it seemed overwhelming. And saying “Happy New Year”seemed naive, almost dangerous. What is this year going to look like? I don’t know. So I’m doing what I do every year- I will journal, I will make an image board and I will start the new year off with optimism and positivity. But I’m also doing some things different- I will not expect or demand perfection from myself. I will not live in an “all or nothing mentality.” I will not WORK or TRY harder than I acknowledge and receive what each day brings. And I will wish that each day in 2021 brings gifts and lessons that I am capable of learning from and that I may be grateful for in the moment, instead of in hindsight. If this time of year is challenging for you too, take a breath. We made it through 2020. And together, with love and empathy and compassion for ourselves and others- we will make it through today. And tomorrow we will get up and do it all again. So, today, I wish you a day with a moment of peace, a moment of joy, a moment of reflection and a moment of restoration. Love to each and every one of you.
