I believe strongly in Project MAMA. Properly valued and supported mothers raise children who equally feel valued and supported. The next generation needs people who feel whole and secure regardless of their background, who know kindness and gentleness and are part of a more inclusive society. This is where the work begins for so many of the problems the world faces. Project MAMA is on the front line supporting women facing extreme vulnerability in what I know can be an exceptionally vulnerable moment. This is important work and as a mother myself, it is exceptionally close to my heart. It is an honour to be an ambassador for Project MAMA.

No one should be facing giving birth alone or be left alone within hours of having their baby.

At Project MAMA, our Mother Companions are vital in giving support to those who may otherwise be alone. Mother Companions give the continuity of care, unconditional and constant support that they may not otherwise have. They fully understand their needs and wishes and support them at every stage of pregnancy, labour, birth and afterwards.
.
Many of the women we support have complex health considerations, pre existing mental health issues, are survivors of sexual violence, have language barriers and culture preferences that already make giving birth a hugely isolating and daunting experience.
.
We desperately need to see change so that no one is left birthing alone. We are following and supporting the

Compassion, space, care and support leading up to the birth of a baby is a right that we believe all women should have in order to harness their own power and give birth safely.
Many of our clients are survivors of sexual exploitation or violence meaning that there are many potential triggers in the birth room which can impact their experience, such as language, medical procedures, touch, eye contact, spacing in the room and gender of practitioners. We support to recognise potential triggers, unpack thoughts and ensure culturally safe, trauma informed care.
