Reminiscing of the days when we walked free,
The seagulls squawking by,
With the water slipping beneath
And the sand tickling our feet

Reminiscing of the days when we danced and jumped,
In the little muddy puddles,
With an abandon so reckless
And the rain pitter-pattering on our
little heads

Reminiscing of the days when we gleamed,
At the sight of the sweets in our favourite bakeries,
The sizzles of the delicious patties
And the bustles of the local bazaars.

But there is nothing more to reminisce now,
The spokes of the wheels refuse to move forward
And the hands on the clock lay paralysed
The reality so quiet and haunting

Soon this time too shall pass
And the world will sigh again
But as humans are and the humans will be
We will find this time, maybe, as a reminiscent of something

Reminiscing of the quiet days gone by,
The lullaby of the soft summer,
Where we slept a little longer
And stayed awake a little late
Enjoying the warmth of our homes.

Lisa Ray Instagram – Posted @withregram • @alexapolar There’s this quote by Benjamin Franklin… either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. Somehow this exquisitely written book conveys both. I’m halfway through and I know I have never personally physically been to some of the mentioned locations (if not most), but somehow I’m able to visualize every single word as if it were a memory I had forgotten. I wish I could properly articulate encouraging phrases to convince others to read this book. The best I can do is just to simply recommend it…highly recommend Close to the Bone by Lisa Ray.

Side note, if you do decide to give it a read (trust me, you won’t regret it)…find a local independently owned bookstore and see if they have it. Support local shops. Get a great book. Win! Win!
