🔵OUT NOW🔵 Kate Conklin & Bryan Landers – Mesechinko Ljo (Dear Little Moon) @kate.conklin @bryanlanders An achingly beautiful full-length debut album 20 years in the making…✨ I met my dear friends Bryan and Kate through Ben Wynn (@deru / sound designer on Avatar/Korra) 20 years ago when they were all music students at CalArts. Kate’s love for Bulgarian music and Bryan’s love for banjo—and their eventual love for each other—brought them together. ❤️🎤🪕❤️ Kate’s Fulbright Scholarship brought her to Bulgaria where she intensely studied the singing techniques and traditional songs of various regions. She’s stayed dedicated to this craft ever since. Bryan is a banjo prodigy who studied under the legend Bill Keith. For years, K&B reworked these traditional songs with new banjo arrangements (not a traditional instrument in Bulgaria). Back when Mike and I were making Avatar, I brought him to Kate & Bryan’s apartment for a party—except I was a week early! They welcomed us inside anyway, and ended up giving us a private concert of some of these tunes. It was like slipping into an enchanted world…✨ A decade later, I saw Kate & Bryan perform a full concert of their Bulgarian voice/banjo arrangements. After the stunning show, I told them this HAD to be an album. I was delighted when they informed me they were already planning to record it. I told them I would do whatever I could to help them make the project a reality. A few years later, I ended up starting @cerulean_records and I connected them with my friends Brian Starley @bergatronmusic who mixed the album, and Nick Townsend @townsendmastering who mastered it. I shot the photos and Bryan put the album art together, and here we are on release day! I’m so happy for and proud of my incredibly talented friends, and I’m so honored they let me help them make this album a reality.
