Our new paper I link to in my Instagram bio, “Temperature‐associated decreases in demographic rates of Afrotropical bird species over 30 years”, made it to the cover of Global Change Biology, the highest impact factor journal in biodiversity conservation, with this photo of the endemic and near threatened Usambara Thrush. Led by our lab member @MHCNeateClegg, based on 30 years of bird banding by Dr. Bill Newmark of @nhmu and his team in the Usambara mountains of #Tanzania and with key modelling assistance from Dr. Tom Stanley of @usgs.

Found in #Neotropical forest and mostly wooded habitats from #Mexico to #Brazil, #puffbirds get their name from their fluffy plumage. Distant relatives of woodpeckers, puffbirds are highly territorial, often sit quietly for long periods and the #rainforest species can be very hard to find.
