#tbt STORYTIME: One of my first television jobs ever was working on the set of the hit show “Empire”. I had the opportunity to sing this really fun song to Taraji in episode 3 of the series first season. We had such a great time on set laughing, singing and dancing It was such a short moment but it stayed with me. Some years later I starred on a television show with my late friend Bill Paxton. This picture would be the last time I saw him. We were given the opportunity to present an Image Award and Taraji won for “Hidden Figures”. When we walked backstage someone captured the beautiful moment of recognition we shared with this photo. The first time I met Ali! I was 17 and I worked as an artist and a student board member for his museum. Later in my mid twenties got to spend more time with him and his family when I portrayed him in the stage production “In this cornor…Cassius Clay” written by the incredible @idrisgoodwin. I shared a family dinner with him and his brother showed me the ends and outs of who he was and worked with me for weeks to bring a really cool project to life. FOREVER GRATEFUL 🙏❤️
