First look at Killers of the Flower Moon — 𐓷𐓟𐓷𐓣𐓩𐓘͘ @osagenews ✨🙏🏽✨ Wish I had words, but this photo holds thousands.
It is my absolute honor to share this news that I am barely able to wrap my head around. I am beyond grateful to announce I will be joining the LEGENDARY cast of Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film, Killers of the Flower Moon. I consider it a true gift and great responsibility to be trusted with Mollie Burkhart, and will hold her preciously with both arms, close to my heart. My most profound thanks to Osage Nation, it is a remarkable gift to be welcomed by you, and to be able to tell this story. Iiksukapi, niksokowaiks. The very best to you, my friends ❤️

751 more children found by Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan at Marieval Residential School, which closed in 1997. Unmarked graves — hidden, apparently markers removed. No words…Just going to lay down for a little while. If you need someone to listen, call National Indian residential school crisis line 1-866-925-4419 (Listen when people tell you, folks. This is nothing our communities haven’t been saying for decades.) I suggest supporting your local mutual aid programs that serve Native folks living daily with the legacy of assimilation and termination. Check out @indigenousmutualaid and visit their website to connect (there is a list of groups from all over.) Image by @tanyatagaq Repost from @misscorinne86 • 751 babies found at the Marieval Residential School in Saskatchewan Cowessess First Nation in “Canada”. This is horrifying..we knew this, but to hear the numbers is shattering. 🧡

Repost from @_illuminatives • 🚨TAKE ACTION🚨 @repdebhaaland is a well-respected leader with a commitment to working across the aisle on important issues. Through her many leadership roles in the House of Representatives, Haaland is the architect of a vision for how America can conserve at least 30 percent of America’s land and water by the end of the decade—a landmark commitment reflected in the Biden-Harris climate plan. She secured influential co-sponsors on legislation more than any other Freshman member of Congress, and got bipartisan co-sponsorship for more bills than any other Freshman member of Congress. Three of Representative Haaland’s acts have been signed into law—two of them are related to hunting, fishing, and conservation. @repdebhaaland’s unique voice is exactly what the U.S. Department of the Interior needs to protect our future. The Energy and Natural Resources Committee must move forward with her nomination. Use the link in our bio to contact your representatives to tell them we need #DebForInterior. We thank @ernestoyerena for the beautiful artwork for this momentous occasion. Today, I remember the #215 children found in Kamloops. My heart beats for every parent of a precious Indigenous life, whether they walk the earth today, or now tred a trail of stars. These 215 are now counted amongst the thousands more children lost to the genocide of every Residential and Boarding school across Canada and the US. This is a living history for every Native family in some way shape or form, and though we live with it generationally, seeing it so widely covered in the media is in many ways a new and very tender experience. Art by @gaysalishart, a father himself. He suggests making a donation to Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) — though their donation form online has exceeded its quota, there are contacts listed, and it is an incredible resource. I suggest supporting your local mutual aid programs that serve Native folks living daily with the legacy of assimilation and termination. Check out @indigenousmutualaid and visit their website to connect (there is a list of groups from all over.) From Reuters’ Anna Mehler Paperny “The remains of 215 children, some as young as three years old, were found at the site of . . . the Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia. The school closed in 1978, according to the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Nation, which said the remains were found with the help of a ground penetrating radar specialist. “We had a knowing in our community that we were able to verify,” Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Rosanne Casimir said in a statement. “At this time, we have more questions than answers.”” … If I were home with her, I’d hug my sweet Gramma today, who went to Chemawa Indian School in the early 1940s — a mixed and difficult experience she speaks very little of, other than to say she either “hated it”, or to joke about how she is only a Catholic because at age 9 she decided to go to the school’s Catholic services instead of the Presbyterian ones, because it’s where all her friends would go and she didn’t want to sit with anyone else. So many of our sweet and salty elders now are often a survivor of one of these schools, so remember to treat them with a lot of love today — and always. 🧡
#JusticeForKaysera #AshleyLoringHeavyRunner #JermainCharlo #HennyScott #HannahHarris Repost from @niwrc • Did you know American Indian and Alaska Native women today face some the highest rates of domestic violence and sexual assault in the United States? Federal statistics report the murder rate of American Indian women on some reservations is more than 10x the national average. You read that right: 10 TIMES THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. 💔 Inhumane federal laws, some originally passed centuries ago, continue to govern the lives and safety of Native women. These laws have created legal loopholes allowing non-Native abusers and predators to target Native women with impunity. 💔 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. No more. Take action and raise awareness with us today, May 5th, and beyond. Lift Indigenous voices today! Uplift May 5th! 💔 #mmiwgactionnow #mmiwg #nomorestolensisters #mmiw #mmiwg2s #mmir #mmip #womenaresacred #whywewearred #notinvisible
I know a lot of you have been waiting for this one, happy to announce LITTLE CHIEF by Erica Tremblay is now available on YouTube! I love this film so much, follow my linktree in bio to view! Stunning artwork by @ambardelmoral 💛
Grow food not prisons!!! ❤️🍓🍎🍉🍅🌶🍒🦞❤️ In honor of Juneteenth I am paying reparations to this incredible organization, please consider doing the same. Link in stories, and give @sweetfreedomfarm a follow! Repost from @sweetfreedomfarm • J U N E T E E N T H What is juneteenth? Today we honor Black freedom, we honor Black Independence Day in the United States. On June 19, 1865 the news of the abolition of slavery reached the most remote region of the Confederacy of Texas. After two and a half years of the Emancipation Proclamation being signed Black kin were “free.” . 165 years later we are still waiting for: our 40 acres & a mule -less than 1 percent of Black people are landowners for our freedom -Black folx are five times more likely to be stopped without just cause than a white person -Black folx make up 34% of the prison population [smaller text] Fatal police violence is the 6th leading cause of death for Black men ages 25 to 29 . Pay Reparations TODAY Help fulfill the unfulfilled promise today with a reparations contribution towards Grow Food, Not Prisons. If 4200 people donate $40 we could reach our $200k goal today! Shaken and heartbroken. Sending love to the families mourning their loved ones, and standing with AAPI family and friends. Each one of us must stand against the dehumanization that our neighbors, friends and loved ones face, at every level, every day. Repost from @ndncollective • We stand in solidarity with our Asian relatives who are hurting and grieving at this time. Asian communities have long faced hyper-sexualization, violence, invisibilization perpetuated by the model minority myth and white supremacy. These harms are currently being exacerbated due to the racist mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we collectively work to dismantle white supremacy, we are committed to fighting alongside and demanding protection of our Asian relatives. #StopAsianHate
