But my very supportive friends constantly tell me that out of all 360 potential degrees that you could possibly view my head from… that there is one, just one very specific degree… that in the right lighting, with the right camera and at the right time of day… with the perfect filter along with the most expensive of photo-editing applications… and with all the luck of every rabbit foot, upright horseshoe and Irishman in existence… and with a blessing from Pope Francis himself… that on that spectacularly rare occasion, I could appear… tolerable. There’s only one person I’d want by my side when piloting a spaceship and it’s absolutely not this guy. Day 4 of quarantine. The loneliness is kicking in. I think my neighbor, Janice, has resorted to cannibalism. She might be a tad early but who am I to meddle in someone else’s family affairs? I sure will miss little Billy. My supplies are running low. Morale, even lower. I’m surprised I’ve survived this long. If only I could just turn my IKEA mattress into some type of makeshift raft… maybe I could paddle my way back to Australia? On a serious note, if you’re being responsible and considerate during these turbulent times, I both love and adore you. EVERY time (and I mean every time) that I head back to Los Angeles, California, my brain automatically plays the OC theme song but the issue is that I don’t actually know the lyrics so my head just repeats the line ‘California, Californiaaa, here we comeee’ x5000. I’m okay with this. Also, now that you mention it, Ryan & Marissa just deserved better, what an unnecessarily heartbreaking ending, I haven’t felt joy since that day. He loved her dammit. I forget I can’t just ‘reload last checkpoint’ on my life. I keep thinking I’ll wake up one sunny day in the middle of my 8th grade science class, drool on the table, sleeve mark on my face. Back to a simpler time when I was with it. When I was relevant, or at least less irrelevant. Vin Diesel and the Rock were still friends. The Black Eyed Peas were new on the scene and considered fresh. The Lizzie McGuire movie was coming out that Summer. Everything seemed possible.

Me Mum was a massive Enrique Iglesias stan. Might still be. As a child, my biggest fear in life was that Mr. Iglesias would show up spontaneously one day at my front door, croon my mother with a flawless rendition of ‘Hero’ and as the song crescendo’ed (“I can be your hero, baby!”), they would both wave to me from the back of his motorcycle as they rode off into the Australian desert together, leaving me with the dog. That fear, of Enrique Iglesias sweeping my mother off her feet, is what I use to motivate myself, every single day. Find your motivation. Happy Monday! Valentine’s Day is also my mother’s birthday. But she hates her birthdays and has absolutely no desire to celebrate them (we’d still usually do something simple a gift). Anyway back around the time of 6th-ish grade, I would tell people that my mother was always my Valentine just to get out of doing anything. They all thought it was adorable and had these grand delusions of me annually taking my mother out for her extravagant birthday/Valentine’s dinners! Eventually, I realized how cute my crushes thought the idea of being my first non-mother Valentine was. So naturally, I started telling them that they were. All of them. And they would get all giddy and everything… “Look, me Mum’s usually my Valentine but I’ll make an exception for you (insert name) cause you’re special to me!”. People talked or snitched depending on how you look at it and eventually I was exposed as a fraud as they all realized I was just an 11 year old playa. A poem to my dearest Quarantine, My dear… How long exactly has it quaran-been? Washing my hands vigorously to stay quaran-clean but yet I feel so un-quaran-seen like every other angsty quaran-teen… Trying my best to stay quaran-lean but spending so much time on my quaran-screen. @lil_henstridge as a director was nothing short of graciously spectacular. I’m pretty sure this was me asking her for a bathroom break… she politely declined. But boy, was it gracious! Anyway, the @air_short_film Instagram account is now up and about, get around it! @rebeccaebreeds who is one of the most wonderful artists humans I’ve ever encountered has done a phenomenal job in finishing this short flick that we shot over Superbowl weekend last year! @alexandramills sharply produced and she is an absolute saint. I am in complete awe of all three of these women and am nothing short of unfathomably fortunate to have collaborated with them. 📽
