It was not until I realized that she heard every single sound I was making while hiding- the doors slamming, me running around, and of course, when I giggled. That was when I had to use my brain to think of clever solutions to outsmart her hearing advantage. There is this assumption that Deaf people are magical lip readers when that’s far from the truth. Didn’t you know that lip reading is mostly a guessing game and has a low accuracy rate?
