Yesterday was a tough day for the Prust family and all our friends. 1 of the most, if not the most loved family member, Lola, passed away 😢😢 this dog has meant so much to me for the last 9 years. There’s not 1 person she met that she didn’t make smile. You’ll see in the photos and videos how she could brighten anyone’s day. The video from the airport was a regular occurrence. I flew a lot and would always let her off her leash to walk beside me. She was a tractor beam for humans. People would flock to her and then leave her with the biggest smile on their face. I was lucky enough to have received this love from her for 9 years. I will miss her snoring, snorting and grunting noises. I will miss her begging for my empty water bottle or her staring at the blue bin for me to pull 1 out. But most of all I will miss her love, affection, cuddles and kisses. In honour of Penny Oleksiak and her Canadian Olympic record, here’s a video of me fighting her brother lol. Never played against him before this, but didn’t like how he was running my Canucks’ teammates. They just tied the game up so I decided to ask him to fight at the faceoff. I wanted to get the Vancouver crowd into the game and my teammates back into it… As we squared up, I realized I underestimated the monster he was 😂 In my head I was like Jesus what did I get myself into 🤦🏼♂️ he’s 6’7 260lbs. We both held our own and had a pretty solid fight. I was happy to survive lol. Congrats to Penny and her swim teammates on a great Olympic showing! 🇨🇦
I tweeted a picture of a stat you will see at the end of this video. The Rangers record when I fight within the 1st 2 mins of a game was 7-1.. 8-1 after this game. I said, teams in a slump shouldn’t fight at the end of games when they are frustrated, fight at the start of the game to get your guys going and get their spirits up. I didn’t think it would get much reaction, but it did. I’m glad it did because it shows that some ppl still understand why fighting shouldn’t leave the game. I also believe fighting in the game is in a much better place now. This fight with Paul Gaustad had nothing to do with me not liking him or that he did something to me the game before. This was completely for 1 reason – to help get my team back on track. We had lost a couple in a row, team spirits and moral was low. Whenever I felt that in the room, I would try and fight my 1st shift that next game. My teammates always knew that fight wasn’t for me.. it was for the them. It was me saying ‘let’s f**king go boys’. It didn’t matter what team I played for, it always seemed to work like a charm 👌👍🏻
A must read from one of my best friends in hockey and one of the nicest humans on earth. I only played with Brantt for one year, my 1st year pro in Omaha. He was sober at the time, but I knew he had some demons and struggles in his past. Being such a close friend, he opened up to me many times and I was always blown away by some of the stories. In this book he completely opens up and lets it all out. After a few chapters you will want to google ‘is Brantt Myhres still alive?’ 😂😂 believe it or not he is. And wow what a life he has lived. Anyone battling with addiction should definitely give this a read. Brantt you are an inspiration to me and so many others for the way you powered through your darkness. Proud to call this man one of my best friends. Love you Myze
