Brian Cox Instagram – This is an unusual post but two days ago my great friend Brian Dennehy passed. Brian was one of the most generous and kind hearted people ever. Of course… he could be a Curmudgeon…but such a beautiful Curmudgeon. As an actor he was one of the true greats EVER. His Generosity was boundless. I first met him when I was doing the play “ Rat in the skull” at the Public Theatre in NYC. Brian came to the performance on more occasions than I could count. At the same time he was in discussion with Michael Mann about playing this crazy Psychiatrist in Mann’s upcoming film “ Manhunter.” Brian told Michael that as far as he was concerned there was only one person to play that role: “Brian Cox.” From then on he would joke that I had stolen his career. This act of largesse was so typical of who Brian was. Immensely caring and loving, he very much inspired love in return. As it soon will be Shakespeare’s birthday, I dedicate this Sonnet to Brian.
