One of my favourite author jobs is stock-signing. It’s so satisfying seeing my books in huge numbers and giving them a personal send off before they hit their new homes! Missed it, glad to be back.

On set 🌈 #Roar #FemaleFilmmakers
Thanks to Northside People for this reminder of my first ever signing for PS I Love You in O’Connell Street. The low waisted jeans, sparkly belt and pointy boots tell me it was 2004 😂
Martin Black, the lovely manager of Easons O’Connell St at the time, had a room filled with sandwiches and cakes beforehand. I had never even been to a book signing before and had no idea what to expect but I remember the queue was out the door and down the street and I was so nervous I could barely speak. I think it shows in my face.
My mom, sister and now mother-in-law were there, and my husband’s Nana Lucy got the bus in for the big day. Emotional now remembering it. So many supportive people. Terrifying day, but a big day and it makes me smile today. ❤️
I’d had some thoughts about a story for some time, I came away on holiday with my family to my spirit home and grabbed an hour to myself to write it.
I sat on this bench with a pen and pad and wrote “The Woman Who Slowly Disappeared” which became the first story in a short story collection named ROAR.
ROAR is now a TV series in production for Apple TV+ starring @nicolekidman @cynthiaerivo @alisonbrie #MerritWeaver created by #LizFlahive & #CarlyMensch produced by the phenomenal @brunapapandrea @madeupstories @blossomfilms #TheresaPark @endeavor
I’m always asked about writing, for tips, for guidance, for all the secrets. But really all you need is a good idea, oodles of passion, to be in the zone. A pen and a pad.
And this bench.
When you create a moment for yourself you have no idea about all the moments to come because of it. 💫

It’s publication day for FRECKLES woohoo, so here I am in all my natural freckly glory.
Allegra Bird, nicknamed Freckles, joined the freckles on her skin dot-to-dot as a child and now as an adult she’s still trying to join the dots in her life. She hears the expression, “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with” and she instantly examines the five people in her life and what their characters say about her. Not entirely satisfied, she realises she can choose a specific set of five people that she admires and thereby reshape herself.
It’s about a lot of things, mainly; identity, loneliness, human connection. Life, love, the universe. Out now and I hope you love it ❤️

So a few moons ago I happen to tell my sister in law @official_ceceliaahern this …
“That you are the average of the five people you spend most time with – so choose carefully”
Her crazy creative mind went into overdrive and she went off and wrote her new book from this random conversation!
What a story – genius!
Here she is presenting me with my copy!
It’s called FRECKLES
Get it, read it because I feel like a really interesting intelligent author helper now and if this becomes a movie I may challenge Spielberg to the best ever at the oscars!
Ps – if anyone is struggling for any other ideas just hit me up I’ve got loadsa stuff unused in my brain! 😄😳😉
💙💙
