Out today, Ep3 of #MrCorman features this wonderful young actress, @vivienlyrablair. I was an actor when I was her age, and I remember how I used to feel frustrated when people would assume that kids couldn’t be great artists. On the contrary, one of the goals of any artist should be to grow more child-like. Vivien is indeed a magnificent artist. She thinks about her character, she filters out falsehoods, and you’ll see when you watch her — she’s totally honest and quite hilarious. She’s also a great writer, I happen to know, but I’ll let her tell you more about that in her own time. Bravo to you, Viv, and I hope everyone watches this week’s episode. ❤️🎧

In a way, playing Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick in this limited series is the opposite of playing the role I wrote for myself in Mr. Corman — Travis is a cruel billionaire. Josh is a kind hearted public school teacher. Why do we reward misanthropes more than nice guys? Really fascinated by this story about both the virtues and the vices of Silicon Valley.

Arturo Castro is a sweetheart, hilarious, and a brilliant actor. In ep4 of Mr. Corman, he becomes the protagonist, and it’s one of my favorite episodes. Just came out on @appletv #MrCorman
Creativity can be a good way to cope.
For me, when my mind goes dark, making something usually makes me feel better.
Coping through creativity is a big part of the story in my show, Mr. Corman.
At the top of the season, he’s lost touch with his creative outlet. By the end of Ep1, he starts playing music again. By the end of the season, he’s finding sincere joy and presence with it.
We’re gonna make a short documentary about this idea on @hitrecord.

Ep6 of #MrCorman out today ❤️🎧 When I was a teenager, I lived by the @laweekly. Back then, that was how you found out about live music. Whether it was an obscure punk band playing at the Cobalt, or Weezer playing at the Whiskey, the LA Weekly was how you found out. And then you’d end up reading about all kinds of off-center culture or local politics that you’d never read about anywhere else. The Internet has changed its prominence, but I still have an enormous fondness for this Angeleno fixture. So it’s a big personal thrill to be on its cover, especially because Mr. Corman is such an Angeleno show. Huge thanks to @linalecaro and long live the Weekly! @appletvplus

Teachers deserve all the gratitude and glory — way more than actors 🙂 There are certain teachers I had in school that I still think about all the time: Mr. Bechtel US History, Mr. Del Navez Calculus, Ms. Antosian Biology, Robair Woodshop, Simcha Pre-Algebra, Robin & Michelle, Linda, Liatris, Bob & Margery in Kindergarten thru 3rd grade. Teaching is a true art form. I’ve actually always been drawn to the idea of being a teacher. And in fact, I’m writing/directing/acting in a show where I play one (called Mr. Corman, coming out on Apple TV+ August 6). One of my biggest hopes for the show is if anybody watching feels inspired to become a teacher themselves. What could be more important than teaching the next generation of humans how to think, how to learn, how to strive. So for all of you teachers out there, just wanted to say, we love you, and thank you <3
