When being late comes right on time… Surprise! WE’RE HAVING A BABY! Pete and I are thrilled to be growing our family, and to share the news with all of you!
Lemme tell you, there’s nothing like finding out by seeing the word spelled out, clear as day, leaving no mystery whatsoever: PREGNANT! Thank you, @Clearblue, for being with us on the journey!
As part of this exciting moment, I wanted to help raise awareness for Clearblue partner @marchofdimes and their amazing efforts to raise awareness for Black maternal and infant health. This year, they launched an implicit bias training for more than 15,000 health care providers with the goal of uncovering institutionalized racism in the health care system and training health care workers not to perpetuate the cycles of discrimination to achieve equity for all moms and babies. Please check out marchofdimes.org for more!

In the wake of the horrifying act of domestic terrorism in Atlanta this week, I am reminded of the insidious nature of racism, how no group of POC are untouched by it, and that we need to align our efforts into a single struggle for our collective freedom. I stand with my AAPI brothers, sisters and non-binary fam*, mourn with them, send my love and offer support. I also want take this moment to remember the context and history of anti-Asian racism in this country, with the hope that understanding the source of a problem can plant the seed of a solution. Maybe it’s news to you, or maybe it resonates as disturbingly similar to the systematic exclusion and oppression of other groups in this country. Knowing the struggles that have come before helps prepare us for what we’re up against now, so we can, together #stopasianhate. (Thanks to @hybridmichael for the graphics 🙏🏾) (*edited for clarity)

In the early days of the pandemic, our household fell into a daily routine of checking the news, checking on loved ones, and then finding ways to make the best out of a quarantined day. For me, that meant finding a new recipe to try, or catching up on The NY Times crossword puzzle. For @petechatmon, that meant finally having a moment to sit down and let more than a decade’s worth of ideas, experiences and wisdom pour forth onto the page…
Pete is a natural teacher, and he’s been a mentor to many. He is powerfully inclined toward generosity and he wants to see everyone get out of their own way and find success. He is willing to help any way he can, giving away all the game, teaching the folks how to fish, if you will. So he wrote y’all a book. A whole book.
The galleys for TRANSITIONS: A DIRECTOR’S JOURNEY AND MOTIVATIONAL HANDBOOK, arrived the other day. I wish you all could have seen the look on Pete’s his face— think Christmas morning, but if it was Santa himself handing over the gift. He seemed awestruck at the sight of his very own creation, imagine that. But he did that. And in my completely unbiased opinion, it’s a game-changing masterpiece. #proudwifeypost doesn’t begin to express it.
The book is available for presale right now on Amazon and is already climbing the charts! Whether you are an aspiring director or any other artist seeking inspiration and principles to guide you through a career in the arts, this book is for you. Preorder yours today via the link in my bio. ❤️❤️❤️
