Charlie!!!! When you were born, 38 years ago, after only three hours of labor and two weeks early, I did think, wow this guy’s already fun. But I had no idea. Thank you for making me laugh so much. And thank you, most recently for wheeling me and your dream girl, Lily, all over Copenhagen in that wagon! I laugh every time I think of it! Happy Birthday, sweet son!

SO that we might speak of Best Summer Ever. It’s a remarkable film and I 100% promise that it will be unlike anything else you see this summer. It is the first film fully made by a cast and crew of people with and without disabilities. It’s about time. Please watch it and spread the word!

So! This my Aunt Freda, recently celebrating a friend’s birthday. Everyone dressed in crazy clothes and she and her friend Peggy decided to wear bathing suits. That’s because she has a world class sense of humor, thought it would be funny, and is absolutely confident in every way. She is an incredible mother to my beautiful cousins and a grandmother and great grandmother. I have read books by some of the world’s great poets and thinkers but when I think of life goals and what truly inspires me, I think of her. She has had enough heartache to bring anyone to their knees but this smile is real and she gives it and her love with complete generosity. She is excited about her life! When I asked her if I could post this photo( taken a few days ago) she said, “ Yes, but Mary, be sure and tell them how old I am so that people can remember that they can have fun in their nineties!!!” Ok. My Aunt Freda is 96.
Thank you to each and everyone one of you inspiring artists at @nomacph. Being with you was and will be a treasure of an experience. Thank you for the welcome that you give each and every person and for the sheer creativity you offer up. I will think about our time together forever. One of my last days of what has been a cherished summer with my family. I spent hours yesterday making origami, place cards and banners with my granddaughters to celebrate their daddy’s birthday. I am grateful for these moments. Happy Birthday to my incredible son-in-law! #loveabounds

I had the honor of doing two films with Charles Grodin. My Summer Story and Clifford. They were made back to back and so I had a nice long stretch of time where I had the pleasure of seeing him each day. Working with him was like dancing with a charming time bomb. You never knew when it would explode and you couldn’t take your eyes off it for a second. He was utterly connected to his fellow actors in every scene. He and Marty Short in Clifford are one of the strangest and most hilarious duos in any film I have ever been a part of. We had so many truly delicious days of laughter on that weirder than weird film. He is probably know for his anger and explosiveness on screen but I will remember him for his sweetness. He was a lovely man. My love to his cherished family.

Happy Birthday, Sandy. In honor of your birthday, I thumbed through my 1973 journal that was filled with notes from my days studying with you. It says so much about you as a teacher, that 48 years later, I think about your words every day at work. I cherish the memories from my beloved Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and I feel blessed that a young girl from Arkansas was somehow guided to study with you.
