Help people find friends and you’ll meet yours along the way. Like a golden rule. This refrain has rung through my heart for almost a decade. And it’s been true in my life. You may think I’ve always had friends, because you’ve seen me in visible roles in different communities. But it wasn’t always that way. I spent years of my life disconnected from friends. What broke the cycle was when I started to recognize there were people like me walking around alone too. And I started there by helping them meet new people and that’s when everything changed in my life and eventually in the life of those communities.
