‘September 30, 2021 marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
The creation of this federal statutory holiday was through legislative amendments made by Parliament. On June 3, 2021, Bill C-5, An Act to amend the Bills of Exchange Act, the Interpretation Act and the Canada Labour Code (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) received Royal Assent.’

National Day of Remembrance
Today serves as a healing journey for many of our Indigenous relatives who were taken, stolen from their families and forced into residential school.
This took place tor MORE than 150 years!!! With the intention of eradicating language, culture and identity.
Our relatives must not be forgotten!
The damage that boarding/residential schools have done to the well-being of Indigenous children and families are immense.
A commitment has been made to wear an orange shirt today to acknowledge and remember that every child matters.
An extending prayer from yesterday continues

Not everyday you get to wake up and have a coffee in an outdoor hot tub to then be joined by a family of bears foraging for breakfast beside you. I got to put the bear spray down and take in the magic 🤩.
This is the first time I’ve seen a bear besides driving by 1 quickly on the way to Alberta. They have always been something I’ve worried about during my hikes in Canada and this was not the way I pictured my first eye to eye with an actual bear ☺️😍🙋🏻♂️.
I was sitting in the hot tub thinking, “Hmm…it’s kinda quiet maybe I should check the landscape…” then stood up to meet the Mama🐻 staring at me. You can see her kind of in a ready stance not sure what to make of me…till she’s satisfied and just starts chomping at the tree while her cubs fumble about. So we watched this from the comfort of our hot tub while enjoying the rest of my coffee. What a priceless way to start the day! 🐻 🤩 ☕️ ☀️ 🏔 Pemberton, British Columbia
