“Karanas” the prescribed movement vocabulary of the natyashastra was reconstructed by Guru Padma Subrahmanyam after many years of research.
I owe my varied vocabulary to her and her lineage of teachers. Guru Sundari Santhanam and now Gayatri akka.

It’s been incredible spending the last few days amidst nature with family and close friends.

We believe that peace, quiet, relaxation, and the ability to relieve ourselves from stress, comes from being in a particular place, at a particular time, with specific conditions that facilitate a stress free experience.
Although a beautiful place amidst nature, a quiet evening, a walk in the park create an ambience where one can withdraw their senses, it finally comes down to the decision one makes to be peaceful .
It therefore should be possible to have inner quiet in the midst of the most chaotic life… the most stressful situations and the worst outcomes…

As Navaratri draws near, we are reminded that knowledge , wealth and strength , the essentials of life have to be revered and treated with the respect they deserve. We cannot take them for granted, and neither can we believe that we own them. They grace us as they please and will leave just as quickly.
Embodied in the form of Saraswati , Lakshmi and Durga, we celebrate and remind ourselves that we must accept gracefully all the privileges of knowledge wealth and power that we enjoy.
They come as goddesses do, bringing beauty into our lives and we must remind ourselves that their presence is a gift, not a right.
