Hi. This is Sufi. Today I went on my Dadda’s set for the very first time. It was a surreal feeling as I have actually only heard about him going to shooting. When I went there, everyone was excited to see me and they called me cute. I don’t know why ‘coz when I checked myself in the mirror before leaving home I realised Mumma again made me wear the same white shirt and denims.
Anyway coming back to the set, Dadda was proudly introducing me to everyone. During his shot, everytime the director aunty said ‘Silence’ , I thought I have to say something .. So I tried to make all the sounds I have learnt.
Don’t know why Mumma was continuously taking me to one end of the shooting floor where I was not audible to anyone… I still kept trying my level best to get everyone’s attention.

Friday was a special day. I met my guruji after almost 2 years. Thank you, pandemic. But what was even more special was that he held my little Sufi for the very first time.
Guruji has been telling me for years ‘Mujhe Nana banaado, Mujhe Nana banaado ‘. And finally ‘ Maine unhe Nana bana hee diya 😃😃’!
When Sufi laid his eyes on Guruji, he almost instantly latched on to him. He sat so comfortable in his lap, and very attentively listened to every word that he said.
Sufi also had his first singing lesson with him where Guruji taught him ‘Sa’ and Sufi in turn showed Guruji all the sounds he can make with his vocal chords 🙂
Sufi’s curious eyes couldn’t get enough of the harmonium.
He kept pressing the keys all day and was so happy that Mumma finally got him his first real musical instrument.
What can be more special than Sufi getting blessings from my Guru who I have spent half my life with.
Guruji now looks forward to coming home more often, not just for me, but also for his grandson, to introduce him to the world of music and share life lessons with him just the way he has has been sharing with his daughter for all these years.

It’s world breast feeding week and I could honestly write a thesis on it but let me just share my story in a nutshell.
My single biggest victory in my journey postpartum has been breastfeeding, and I won’t shy away from saying that I am so proud of myself. Proud of not giving up, of believing in the power of my body & mind, of not being influenced by the voices around me.
My initial 40 days post partum were such a challenge. There was a lot of self doubt.
Is my body producing enough milk?
Why is he still crying?
Is it because he is still hungry?
His acid reflux didn’t help either.
He would puke whatever milk he would have and then cry again. I tried and tried. Also had meltdowns every couple of days.
And whilst I was dealing with this, there were times when my househelp and nanny would unknowingly pass statements that would demoralise me.
‘Baby ko shayad dhodh nahi mil raha hai’ or ‘Ab Sufi ko bottle zyaada pasand hai, iske liye ro raha hai.’
Hearing these lines every other day, created even more self doubt.
I always wanted to exclusively breastfeed my child since the very beginning but it seemed like a far fetched dream at that point.
Having said that, I was determined to reverse this completely!
The first thing I did was politely shut the voices around me. Next, I did everything in my capacity to increase my supply. Had litres and litres of water everyday, supplements, and most importantly positive affirmations to myself. I kept calm when I fed Sufi even if he was crying and constantly reminded myself that my body is producing enough milk and more for my baby.
Up until now I was supplementing Sufi with formula milk, but slowly and steadily things began to change and by a month and a half I managed to achieve what I had envisioned for my child⭐️
Today, he is not only breastfed exclusively but I have also managed to fill up my freezer with a sufficient stash of expressed milk. It took sometime but together we made it happen.

Exactly a month ago on 10.07.2021 Sufi took his first flight to Goa. Although it was a short 45 min flight I remember speaking to many mums on what to carry and what not. I planned for days on end to make sure that Sufi is comfortable during our stay there.
I had kept all things handy in the diaper bag that he may need incase he poops, pees, cries. Extra diapers, disposable changing mats, medicines incase of ear pressure, blanket, extra set of clothes, toys, the works. However I didn’t end up using any of it.
Sufi was stuck to me in the baby carrier from the time I got out of the car at the mumbai airport till i landed in Goa. He was an absolute rockstar just observing and taking it all in. ❣️

5th aug 2021, we introduced Sufi to semi solids for the first time. We did a small pooja with Bijal maami after which he got his first taste of puréed Apple. He hated it 😃 He stared at us with an expression of utter bafflement. With every bite, he kept dissecting as to why does his milk taste so different.
When I offered it to him the 4th time, he threw the spoon away. At the end of the meal he also had his first sip of water and gulped it all down immediately.
It was just so much fun to see all sorts of expressions on his face. Hunger, confusion, rejection, satisfaction all at the same time.
Watching your baby eat is such a satisfying feeling. I was just so excited, with every morsel he was taking it. I now understand why our mums keep asking us till date if we have eaten our meal or not 😃
Can’t wait to introduce my little human to a whole bunch of foods.
P.S – It’s day 3 and Sufi loves his apple now🍎
