Daha güneyde görülen saturatus alt türü kırmızı, bu alt türü ise turuncudur. Diğer Türkçe isimleri ise And kaya horozu, And kaya tavuğu, Peru kotingası ve kızıl kayahorozudur. Yellow-faced #parrotlet, a beautiful, tiny (15 cm) parrot is endemic to only 4800 km2 of desert in the Marañon Valley of northern Peru, where cacti are its favorite food. Like many other parrot species, it is #threatened with #extinction due to trapping for the cage-bird trade and habitat loss. Even though its current world population is <1000 birds, 17,000+ birds were caught in 1981-1994 and 1,481 were legally exported in 1981-1984 (Begazo 1996).40-100% of the birds die between capture and sale (Dorst 1957). An emerging threat is the building of dams on the Marañón, with four planned to be finished by the mid-2010s (Dourojeanni et al. 2009). Bu kuşu görüntülemek için bu ücra dağlara ufak bir ekspedisyon düzenlemem gerekti ama çektiğim zahmete değdi.

To photograph the magnificent Pale-billed #Antpitta (#Grallaria carrikeri), my life bird #8207 on eBird and endemic to the Andean forests of northern Peru above 2300 m asl, it was worth doing a tough hike of 800 m in elevation, starting in the dark at 4 AM.

With a world population of only 250 to 999 birds, globally #Endangered Gray-bellied Comets (#Taphrolesbia griseiventris) are found only in an area of 28,000 km2 (~ the area of Massachusetts). With a long tail, glittering green back, and blue-purple throat, this elegant #hummingbird is #endemic to the #Andes of northern #Peru and is found in arid #mountain slopes and canyons with sparse vegetation, around 3000 m asl. I was very lucky and happy to photograph it.

Soyu kritik tehlikede olan Darevsky engereği, sadece Ardahan, Kars, Gürcistan ve Ermenistan’ın sınır bölgelerindeki dağlarda 2200 metrenin üzerindeki 100 km2’den az bir alanda bulunur. Gerçek dağılım alanının ise 10 km2’den az olduğu düşünülmektedir. Critically endangered Darevsky’s viper is found on only 100 km2 above 2000 m in the Caucasus Mountains of NE Turkey, Georgia and Armenia. Its actual area of occupancy is thought to be only 10 km2.
