Every time I travel, I love to understand and experience the culture of that place in whatever way I can. When I was in Zanzibar, I wanted to experience a bit of their culture in some way. While I was admiring how beautiful Rachel was (the owner of the resort I stayed in before I left) she looked at my long hair and offered to do the ‘corn rows’ on them. I jumped at that offer as I had always wanted to do it. Corn rows are very rooted in African history and date far back to 3000 B.C. In Africa, braids were a way to show people who you were. They signified your tribe, your marital status, your wealth, religion, and more. It is not just a hairstyle, it’s a LOT more than that. While the plaits were getting done we exchanged stories about own countries and cultures. So much understanding, learning and mutual respect for the other culture happened during that time. A big thanks to Rachel for giving me this experience. I loved it!

Thank you all for the support for my journey on Survivor. I throughly enjoyed my experience and did my best on the show. It is indeed a once in a lifetime experience I will remember and cherish forever. While it is disappointing to finish my journey halfway through, I feel just being on the show is being a winner. Survivor is a very very tough & difficult show physically, mentally amd emotionally. Every contestant is trying to do their best. One humble request to the fans of the show, while it’s great to have fans support contestants, please do avoid fan wars and negativity towards other contestants on the show. We can still support and celebrate the ones you are routing for without degrading or putting down another. Remember, the show is edited. There is a lot happening that you aren’t seeing. Every contestant is living through the experience, being spontaneous and doing what they think is the best decision at that point. Constructive criticism is always welcome, not social media hate. Let’s encourage and support everyone out there. Thank you once again for all the love, the personal msgs and the criticsm. My take away from this experience is PLAY FAIR, give it your best, stay true to yourself and smile through it all, you don’t have control over the reaults anyway! Hakuna Matata! Cheers all! Wish you a very Happy Diwali!

When I was deciding what to wear for my kalyanam I had two things in mind. Comfortable and Minimalistic. I didn’t want to spend too much on clothes that I would never wear again. My wedding was an attempt to do as minimal waste and as eco friendly a wedding as possible. So I decided to take my Amma’s pattu sarees that she wasn’t using any more and make them into comfortable fancy clothes for the occasion. I didn’t have to worry one bit cos guess who was there to do it for me!! @studiodaksh !! When @rajdaksh is by your side why worry. I just gave her two sarees and said DO SOMETHING and this is what she did!!! Pic 1 is what I wore for my reception and Pic 2 is Mehendi. Isn’t it brilliant?? Trust me it was super comfortable and I got tons of compliments for how it looked as well. Now the good news for you guys is that @studiodaksh is open and taking orders for the festive season!!! How about reuse something that you already have and make a one of a kind dress out of it rather than spending money on fast fashion? Go place your orders soon!

If you are an artist, you understand that moment when your work is put out for an audience to watch, like, dislike, judge etc. That moment is very special for every artist (Even more now in these circumstances). Now is one such moment for me. A musical short film #Amala that I worked on last year is out now for all of you to watch and enjoy. This is the result of the hard work of a team that really gave it their all. It’s just the beginning for this team. They have a long way to go. Watch it, like it share it and most importantly let me know what you thought in the comments. Link in bio.
Directed by @bgovindraj and @vinithsanthosh_ (Thank you for choosing me to be Amala)
Music by @psjayhari The song is really beautiful. Thank you!

The one fruitful, joyful, immensely satisfying thing I did this lockdown was starting my online acting workshop ‘ACT 4’ with @evamentertainment. Much much thanks to @evamsunil and @tututales whithout whom this would not have happened. It has been a great journey filled with learning not just for the students but also for me. I met so many talented, passionate actors from all over the world and got to exchange thoughts and learnings with them. Loved every bit of this. It helped me keep in touch with my craft and better it during this time. So much joy to share my passion, my respect for the craft, my process and the magic of performance art with so many beginners who were so eager to learn. So so grateful for this opportunity to teach, learn and touch the lives of all of them. Looking forward to equipping myself to doing more of this in the coming years 🙂
