The Great Indian Rope Trick

There is a woman in me rising
out of all the ones that aren’t.

She is being pulled forth
by the oiled plait of her dark hair
slithering skyward –
will it turn to noose
halfway, like a trick?
Is it even a sky or a blue glass
ceiling waiting sharp, a vicious
cloud festooned guillotine.

She is being born, lotus-foot-first,
running, baby bud feet on cracked earth,
she is surpassing six million years
of something erroneously called evolution,
a pataki, an umbilical cord shooting backwards through time, to chase down the first patriarch
and feed him the tough seeds of his daughter’s freedom.

She is rising and rising through the fault lines
of failed humanity, bursting,
like some manic radical stalk
through history
to seize and scoop through the soil
all the ones that aren’t
till they come gasping up for the air
that’s forever been theirs.

Lisa Ray Instagram – I’ve kind of given up on makeup when I go out. And heels. And dressing to please others. Surface social making nice about things that don’t matter.
Now I have more energy to people watch. For relationships (like the one pictured here) For genuine commemoration of places and folks that have touched me.
Happy anniversary @olivemumbai
Much love to @adsingholive and Sabs
Thank you for coaxing this hermit from her cave @dipikablacklist

The onset of Margashirsha transforms the world from the gaiety and festivities of Sharad rtu to stillness and solitude. Margashirsha month marks the start of the two cold rtus that comprise winters – Hemanta rtu and Shishir rtu.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The perfect balance between the Sun and the Moon which characterised Sharad rtu now gives way to misty mornings and cold days. As fresh snow blankets the Himalayas, frost begins to harden the ground in the mornings.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And we all begin to seek the elusive warmth of the Sun.
