The land feels softer under my feet today after the first proper rain of the season. Soft water softens everything. And it may seem like a small thing, but feels like a victory: we fed our folks from our garden yesterday!! A big rain-washed salad we have grown here in our #lighthouse, with love and care and energy and time and patience. The nourishment of this connection to our food is food itself and we are growing with it. I am grateful today. #thanksCG

We haven’t changed that much. #dad
People put a lot of #colonisation on #columbus but it was all funded and authorized by the Vatican in the name of Christ, same as the witch burnings in Europe, same as the invasion of the African continent, same as so many weird and horrible megalithic crimes against Nature. In the name of #Christ, not Columbus. And somehow I don’t think Christ would have been down with that. Funny how power-hungry institutions take something true and good and turn it upside down and turn people against one another with the fear of hell in them. And then find a front-man to take the brunt of the bile that ensues, while changing nothing of the essence. Curious how these #colonizers demonized systems of understanding close to nature, and imposed their ways on others under the pretext of saving souls for the greater good. And now we think this is horrible. And yet repeat the pattern even as we scream bloody murder against it. I’m with indigenous relatives right now. And they are not celebrating indigenous peoples day. They’re just doing what they can to keep their water clean, land in balance, culture alive and children healthy. And they’re still against all odds. Changing a name doesn’t do anything when you’re still trying to impose your “rightness” on anyone else. When you’re still harming people for protecting their water. When you’re still seeing other systems of understanding as inferior. When you’re still de-humanizing people who see things differently. I’m glad for those celebrating today in whatever way feels good, celebration is beautiful. I’ll be here composting and listening to stories over a hot cuppa, remembering how to be a human of this earth again.

Join us 7/7 @ 4pm-8pm or a Hapè ceremony and talk with Hushahu Yawanawa. ✨⭐️✨ Hushahu will speak about the medicine of hape for about an hour and after we will open the space for questions. And then Hushahu will begin the ceremony of hape for those who can be with us in Sebastopol, Ca. ✨⭐️✨ Join in person is $111. (Sebastopol Ca.) Join via zoom $111-$155 ✨🌅✨ Please email direct to confirm your space. [email protected] ✨⭐️✨ In the tradition of the Yawanawa, Rape is a medicine prepared from Tabacco leaves and the ash of a tree called Tsunu. It is a medicine that has been part of their culture for as long as they have been there. Today its use is very widespread and becoming more common, but only a handful of people understand this medicine like Hushahu. Many people are sharing rapé in a form that is disconnected from the healing traditions it comes from, without fully understanding it’s power and even turning it into something toxic. Seeing all of this Hushahu felt to open her heart to share a bit about the study of rape in the Yawanawa tradition. She will share about its preparation and how work with it consciously, with respect and care. Hushashu a force of nature, if you can make it please do! One of the best ways to support the Amazon rainforest is to learn about its cultures and medicines, its languages and ways, directly from the people who have grown with it for generations. And Hushahu is one of the most astounding teachers from the rainforest alive right now. #rapé #indigenous #amazon #medicine #tobacco
The Amazon Sacred Headwaters Initiative (ASHI) has developed a concrete proposal to permanently protect a binational corridor of 35 million hectares of Amazon rainforest, which is home for more than 600,000 indigenous peoples and one of the most biodiverse and rich territories on Earth. Join us to watch a beautiful animated film depicting the Amazon in the care of indigenous peoples TOMORROW 9:30am PST (4:30pmGMT), and let’s dare to dream of meaningful, soulful and wonderful ecological solutions together for this most sacred part of our planet. I’m honored beyond words to join this panel with @manariushigua @atossasoltani , Domingo Peas, and Mirian Mozaquiza. These guys are all bastions of our rainforest and lovers of life, and I’m always so inspired when our paths cross. Mayor of LA signs ordinance to make homelessness a crime lest sensitive people accidentally see their shameful poverty. Next up he will sign an ordinance to allow the rich to have the poor chasing each other around a big privately owned field for their entertainment.
Celebrating our @aniwa.co fam! Kuru and the Yawanawa family the message of the forest to Global Citizen live @glblctzn. The celebrity event draws attention to climate change in the world, to the urgency in the fight for equality and to the responsibilities of governments and private initiatives in the eradication of practices that keep vulnerable communities living in poverty. Culture remixes like this are tricky territory nowadays. This family is legendary, Kuru is incredibly strong in his culture and he’s not even 20. And this here is a adaptation of a sacred chant. Being an indigenous-Caucasian remix my self, this particular song brings me hope.
#Repost @theboafoundation with @make_repost ・・・ Benki lives in one of the most preserved parts of the forest; preserved, largely thanks to his people’s activism. Through the Yorenka Ãtame project (the Wisdom of the Forest), the Ashaninka have replanted over 2.3 million trees in the last 30 years in invaded, degraded areas in the Upper Juruá Valley, a region that holds some of the yet untouched watersheds of the Amazon basin. More recently, Benki has created Yorenka Tasorentsi (the Wisdom of the Great Spirit), a healing center, reforestation institute, and educational space to teach humanity about the science of nature, how to live in harmony with ourselves and our surroundings, how to take care of the forest, and all its inhabitants, so that we can leave a more beautiful world for generations to come. The Yorenka Tasorentsi territory, acquired with the generous donations of the Boa foundation community, is now under severe threat. Several criminal fires have been carried out recently inside its perimeter; trees have been cut down and there has been an attempted home invasion near its limits. Such fires and invasions are being perpetrated by entrepreneurs taking advantage of the dismantling of government institutions for the protection of indigenous peoples and the environment promoted by the Bolsonaro presidency. Benki and the Tasorentsi team have thus put together an emergency fund for defending the center against these invasions. Benki is doing a class about his sacred medicines to raise funds for this cause. Enbridge is drilling under several rivers in northern MN this week to build a tar sands pipeline, including the upper Mississippi River crossing. Without political intervention, the crossings will likely be complete by early August, despite the resistance of people standing up for treaty rights, physically blocking equipments, and coming together in solidarity for support. Over 600 arrests have been made so far. “This is happening now in the United States! Humans are being violated for simply stewarding their connection to earth and water. A militarized police force is violently violating treaties and criminalizing protecting the sacred.
