A few years ago I got to witness @katelin___gibbs give birth to her most beautiful creation, her daughter Grey.
Today she has birthed her second greatest creation, Cycles, a tribute to parenthood – in all its nuanced forms and textures. The collection expands upon the idea of a “push present”. Katelin’s wish is to honor the full spectrum of experiences around reproduction and parenthood. This includes the process of trying to conceive, loss of born or unborn children, adoption, IVF, abortion, step-parenting, and every experience in between and beyond.
10% of the profits from Cycles will be donated to @kindredspacela, the only Black-owned birthing center in Los Angeles. Kindred Space LA was founded by @kimberlydurdin and @mama_leggs , two midwives working to address the systemic racism in reproductive healthcare.

I recently met a man who told me he remembered his birth vividly. He could recall the shirt his father wore, his twin’s presence in the womb, bright lights, and the cold air hitting his skin like a thousand needles. His birth was difficult and sharing these memories with me forty years later brought up immense emotions in him.
Regardless of whether or not one can recall the experience of being born I believe that the memory is held deep in our subconscious, stored in our bodies, and the imprinting that takes place at birth contributes greatly to how we exist in the world. I believe that the way we approach birth as a culture is reflective of how we approach life. I hope one day we live in a world where every mother and child feels supported on their journey and empowered in their sovereignty.

“Six months ago when my baby and I were one. My midwife @lamidwifeabby checking baby’s heartbeat during contractions. This was roughly 15ish hours into labor.
Did anyone else leak colostrum with every contraction? We eventually had to transfer to the hospital but I look back so fondly on laboring at home. Even though my homebirth didn’t fully pan out, I’m still grateful I tried. It was amazing to be in my own space with my husband, dog, and birth team. My labor was peaceful. My face looked like this most contractions. I spent a lot of time on the birth ball, laying on the bed, in the shower or on the toilet. I ate real food. I was massaged by my doula @ccmeyer and my husband. I walked out to my back yard and let the sun warm my skin. I felt so loved and cared for.
6 months out and already dreaming of trying for a VBAC water birth “
