What hearing people don’t realize is that these videos do more harm than good. It is a constant reminder that Deaf people are broken therefore need to be fixed. The truth is that Deaf people are tired of the same videos circulating around a million times. What about life’s other firsts? The first smile, sign, laugh, midnight snack, walk, flight, potty (or attempt at potty mouth), and Deaf school. There are countless of life moments that makes us human including Deaf people. Layered. Three-dimensional. After all, there is more to life than just hearing.
