Soooooo… now y’all’s Governor wants to shield white people from feeling “discomfort” when learning AMERICAN History. 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ #ITriedToTellYa
Ahmaud’s life mattered.
It’s heartbreakingly sad that he didn’t get to ride that journey to its fullest possibilities.
L👀K who showed up for Christmas morning uninvited – – – but more than welcomed 😜 (especially since we’re in their habitat).
I pray that you all have a wonderful and loving Christmas Day, safely surrounded by the people you love.
Merry Christmas! #HappyBirthdayJesus🙏🏾

I find it very interesting that some people 👀 hear Joe Biden‘s commitment to adding diversity to the highest court in the country by appointing a Black woman to the United States Supreme Court, and somehow interpret that as an “unqualified” Black woman getting something she doesn’t deserve…
I guess, when being “white/male” is the default answer to every question, every open position, to every available opportunity for advancement – it probably would stretch the mind to consider a different option as anything other than equaling “inherently unqualified.”
Well some of us heard Biden’s commitment to appointing a Black woman to the Supreme Court as an acknowledgment that this is an idea whose time had long ago come. We took for granted that you would know what we have always known— that if a Black person is being considered for advancement, they are already just as smart and qualified, if not more; just as prepared, if not more; just as ready, capable and able-minded, if not more than any other contender who might compete.
The privilege of white supremacy is that you only have to see the world through your chosen lens. The rest of us are required to scope out all of the angles – know them better than our own – – – then, only then, proceed.

We decided to make this MLK holiday a chance to help our children deepen into Civil Rights history with a trip to the seat of the movement in Montgomery, AL. The kids got to learn more about MLK Jr., Rosa Parks, John Lewis, Ralph Abernathy and more.
They also saw some personal family history when they visited the residence of the President of Alabama State University where their mom spent a lot of her childhood.
They kids were so engaged, asked so many good questions and were even treated to a bit of snow… flurries 😜. I am hopeful that the lessons they learned here will stay with them forever .
I hope that we are all finding ways to make this holiday a day ON for our history.
Happy Dr. Martin Luther (& Coretta Scott) King Day!

Congratulations to the Congressional Black Caucus on a really great hire, @vinceevans – an awesome RATTLER @famu_1887 and an incredible friend. Black America and the American people will be the ultimate beneficiaries of his dedicated and committed labor.

Ever consider the forces of nature the Mothers of MLK, Malcolm X, & James Baldwin must have been to produce such “good trouble makers”? Thanks to @annastea_honesty we get to see the powerful women they were before their famous children. Join us for a great convo on Real Talk.
With what’s been a frustrating week for some of us, I was left energized by my conversation with @dellavolpe on his new book, Gen Z and his optimism for the future. If you haven’t already, check out “Fight” and listen to the full interview out on @quakemedia. Show link in bio
