Howdy, friends. I did a couple versions of this drawing as gifts for some young folks who, on one hand, are finding it hard to fit into the systems and constructs society has laid out for them; and on the other, have found that making art is something they have a knack for and that makes them feel better—like a window into a world where they do feel like they belong. I want to encourage them and anyone else out there who might be feeling the same to keep making art, and to keep getting to know themselves—their true selves, not what society or social media might want them to be—through the process. Climb through that window and join the rest of us creative folks who make stuff because we are compelled to, because it’s how we thrive and the best and only way we know how to exist. Not only will you find kindred spirits through your art, but you just may find that the society that didn’t seem to know where you fit in actually needs you and the art that you make. 💙⬇️💙 #aang #art

Indeed, for a brief time there were four ATLA LEGO sets: two small ones that I don’t recall; a larger Southern Air Temple set; and Zuko’s ship—a dusty and dog fur-covered example of which you see here—which was the coolest one. LEGOs were my favorite toy growing up, and when I first got to LA and got a job, Mike, Kurt, and I bought a bunch of Star Wars LEGOs that I still have. So, it was pretty surreal when I was putting this thing together, based on something I co-designed.
