Recently, a school called Summit, in Queens came to my attention. They serve nearly 300 students in grades 3-12 who come from all five boroughs, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties, and help children with a broad range of disabilities, from learning and emotional disabilities, neurological conditions, focus and attention issues, and autism spectrum disorders. Many obstacles have hindered these students’ progress in a traditional classroom, but they thrive in Summit’s therapeutic learning environment. I am auctioning a signed Traces: Alternate Versions & Sketches guitar and CD, personalized to the highest auction winner to support special education students to achieve academic success and prepare them for entry in the world. Today, I am launching an auction for my personal 1979 Mercedes 450 SL – this car was the place of many Windshield Songwriting Sessions as I drove to and from all the Journey writing, recording, and rehearsal sessions – along with my custom-made touring tuxedo tails jacket worn during many past concert performances, and an autographed copy of my New 2021 Holiday record, “The Season.” All proceeds will go to the Junior Giants program, which provides a free, noncompetitive baseball and softball program for nearly 24,000 kids, ages 5-18 years old, in more than 85 leagues in underserved communities.
