Lisa Ray Instagram – I found this image from two years ago when I was in Dubai. It speaks to me as I’ve been introduced to a Mudita practise that feels very cleansing and purifying. Mudita, or appreciative joy, is the antidote to emotions such as jealousy, inferiority and thinking, ‘why don’t I have that?’ It’s also the lazy person’s path to enlightenment as my teacher @nithyashanti says with a grin. Visualise someone who has qualities that you admire or perceive that you lack: strength, discipline, happiness, prosperity, luck. Send them Mudita, visualise it flowing from your heart. What you appreciate appreciates, so as you exercise your warm, open hearted joy for others, the same qualities you appreciate will grow in you. It takes a bit of time and patience to rewire our stories of being a victim, of not being dealt the best cards in the deck. But the rewards to practising Mudita can transform the quality of your experiences and ultimately life.
