This is our reality. This is our future. How can we continue going along with this injustice? It is now that we need to make a change. It is today that we must take action.
The EU is the world’s largest exporter of shark fins, allowing fins to be illegally retained, transshipped, or landed in the EU. They are a major contributor to the hundreds of millions of sharks slaughtered each year in the name of the horrendous trade. People around the world have come together to call on the @europeancommission to make a change. @stopfinningeu is closer to its goal of stopping the practice but we still need your help. We have until January 31, 2022, to make a change.
Join the movement at the link in our bio to help get justice for sharks and stay up to date on the campaign to end the trade of fins in the EU.

Repost from @sealegacy . It’s time to stop the needless slaughter of dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and other marine wildlife by driftnets off the coast of California. Sign the petition at the link in our bio to stop the deadly use of driftnets.
California banned driftnet fishing in state waters, but it continues in federal waters. The nets, used to catch swordfish, are miles long and hundreds of feet deep and they ensnare and kill everything in their path. The bycatch rate is astronomical – for every swordfish caught in these nets, as many as seven other marine animals may become collateral damage.
In 2020, both houses in the United States Congress passed a bill to ban the practice in federal waters, but Trump vetoed the bill. It has now been reintroduced and is being considered in the United States Senate and House. Please join us and demand that California put an end to driftnets.

Posted @withregram • @seaspiracy Sharks are one of the most misunderstood marine animals in our oceans.
Often depicted in movies as savage killers, sharks actually play a vital role in keeping the seas healthy and productive.
So what would happen if sharks were to disappear from our oceans?
Small fish populations would explode, leading to fast declines in other species due to over-consumption and the small fish populations would eventually starve themselves.
Algae and bacteria would then smother the coral reefs, so they can no longer photosynthesis.
Species diversity would totally disappear.
But sharks are disappearing from our oceans in massive numbers. Due to industrial fishing, 11,000-30,000 sharks are killed EVERY HOUR.
Help us put a stop to this destruction.
