Sonequa Martin-Green Instagram – Alright y’all, we’re a week into #blackhistorymonth and I’m gonna play catch up here because I got a lot I wanna share. I’m gonna start with my own history, with these two wonderful souls who brought me into this world. Daddy’s fight with liver cancer was only 5 weeks long but it was a valiant and deeply inspiring one. Mama’s heart attack the next day took a long while to even accept as reality. There’s been cleansing and healing in the horror. I’m so proud of them. I’m proud of who they became and all they overcame and achieved, despite every single odd against them. Now more than ever, I know that real love, full acceptance, and soul-filled celebration of where I come from is where destiny truly begins. I commit to starting at the center and working my way out. ♥️ I celebrate my parents and their history that became my beginning. I’m proud to be theirs. Happy Black History Month everybody.
