It’s okay to not be okay. 👇🏼
1st photo: “Everything’s fine” ➡️ 2nd photo seconds before because my back was killing me.
Here’s what I mean.
Ever since I was young, I’ve handled pain pretty well. All sorts of pain, but physical more than anything. I’ve played just about every sport, cheered, and danced my entire life.
So when I got injured, fell, or showed the mere facial emotion that something was wrong, and someone asked if I was alright- I lied. 9.8/10 times acted fine.
Not because I wanted to. Not to be fake. Not because of embarrassment. Not because I was trying to be hard ass. But because I didn’t want to worry whoever was asking. I didn’t want them to have to be concerned about me.
In a weird way, I did it for me too. It was a way that I mentally convinced and reassured myself that yes, I was going to be okay even though I was currently in pain. (Now, if I was seriously injured, you’d know. That’s never really happened- knock on wood 🤞🏼)
To be clear, I am still to this day, just like this. In a way, this helped me be super independent and mentally rock solid in all areas, not just pain tolerance. However, often times I question if this is a good or bad trait to have. I’ve tinkered with understanding its slightly stubborn. I’m okay with that honestly.
As I grow up and try to grow my career, I’ve just had to learn how to accept help in certain areas, and not try to do everything on my own. Very much still a work in progress.
But like I said, temporary pain, even if it sucks ass, I can get myself through and often deny outside help/care/attention. So even though I’m not 100% at the very moment, I am okay, and I know I will be. Feel me?! I would love to know what you guys think about this! Good or bad trait to have?

Reposting this as a reminder of how important it is to be a living example for our youth. It’s important to encourage them to set goals, pave a healthy lifestyle, while creating character and a strong moral compass.
This little lady’s parents are clearly nailing it. I’m so glad to have shared this curious, heartfelt moment with her ☺️
