It’s been a good day! Thank you for the love 🙂
#hridayam
What started as a personal exercise of wrapping my head around a song in my own name has become so much more, in such less time. I have laughed, blushed, been super embarassed, and so humbled with the reels, the sketches, the celebration, the memes (I LOVE THE MEMES) and the conversations over the past few days.
`Darshana` has found its way into my everyday routine as children in the supermarket, an auto driver who sang the song through my ride, old school friends who reconnected and my family can’t seem to stop grooving to it. I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for the love 🙂
Thank you Vineethetta and Hesham for giving me this song, Pranav for making running in slow motion so much fun and for being my Arun, and to the incredible team that made Darshana happen.
Gond Ke Laddu with my Rohu ❤️

Hridayam in theatres, 21 January 2022 🙂
I really appreciate getting to do what I do as an actor, because of which I rarely acknowledge the fact that shoots can be emotionally and physically draining. We often shoot long hours, away from our homes, our people, and craving for as much as the comfort of our own beds. Each new shoot feels like the first day of school all over again. As much as I enjoy it, it always takes some getting used to. And then there are those rare sometimes where an hour into a set has you feeling all right. That is exactly what happened with this project. We just got done shooting for this beautiful film and I couldn’t be more grateful – for the beautiful people, for repeatedly having found home away from home, and, as always for the joy of getting to do what I love so much.

20 January 2022
My world is filled with people I am in awe of. People I’m always wishing to work with – actors, musicians, designers, teachers – the list goes on. Doing what I do, I have been fortunate enough to get to work with some of them. But every time I see a new performance I’m inspired by, this list gets longer.
During the pandemic we all found ways to make art on phones and through zoom calls. I missed being at work very much, but loved how easily some ‘not so ideal’ things took off. Anything was enough to hold on – ‘until we get back to stage again, until shoot starts again!’
Fortunately work has resumed, but I’ve decided to continue doing some small things in my own small way. I plan to collaborate with the people on my list, to make things align myself. I’ll just read a children’s book with them, or a poem maybe? Maybe not be so scared and just sing together, or make a small movement piece, or cook together. The possibilities seem endless. What I know for sure is that I’d love to do a lot more of what I enjoy doing with these people.
So here’s a start. My first collaborator has been my permanent collaborator since childhood. One I didn’t have a choice with, but also one who consistently inspires me with her work – my sister Bhavana. There might be very little we agree on, but on kids and theatre we certainly do.
On World Theatre Day, we’re reading this lovely children’s book that @yaminivijayan recommended – ‘Dear Greenpeace’ by Simon James.
I’ve got jitters. The good ones 🙂
And oh, Happy World Theatre Day 🙂
