Evangeline Lilly Instagram – I was so struck by my visit to the capitol last week. I was surprised by how moved I was, standing on the steps of those two hundred year-old buildings…built to represent the new republic. They still felt so meaningful, so full of aspiration and promise. But they also felt old, symbols of a fading era. I could feel the shifting of a paradigm in the eerie, soft quiet that surrounded them. We are in the midst of building the new era. We, like the founding fathers, will all be able to say that we were there when the new systems and institutions were birthed. I wonder what symbols we will choose this time? I wonder if we will still make space for the old ones, these beautiful relics, or will they fall away with the era they represent. I felt a sadness for the loss of the old – so flawed and yet so much good realized as well. I felt an acceptance that what is to come, will come. And I felt a resolve and an excitement to be a builder of this new era. We all are. Everything we are doing today is both an end and a beginning.
