This is the Groom Capturing Tribal Village in Meghalaya where I witnessed the groom being captured. He was fed rice beer all night until he agreed to marry the girl. The priest was immediately brought in. They beheaded the chicken after beating the couple with it. Then they removed the intestine of the chicken 🐓 and observed it. They believe that if the intestine is healthy, it will be a happy marriage but if unhealthy the marriage is doomed. Even if it’s doomed the couple is still married off.
In some cases where the boy absolutely refuses, they let him go the next morning after a night of coaxing him with rice beer.
