What an unforgettable week in our nation’s capitol. I’ve been to DC a few times before to advocate on behalf of music people but this trip felt extra productive. Big thanks to all the @recordingacademy members who sacrificed their time and came out to support our causes and our community! Also, thanks and respect to all the staff and leaders from both The Academy and our country’s government who bring their passion and dedication to make a positive difference in people lives all across our country. We may not all agree on what’s best, but I love and respect people who care enough to want to do the work and make things better. Finally, I don’t ever take for granted the unbelievable opportunities and truly spectacular people I am fortunate enough to get to experience in this photo dump or on any part of my life’s journey. #attitudeofgratitude

When I was just getting started in the business, I looked forward to each months release of Mix Magazine. I would read about all the incredible studios I dreamed of working in and all the big time engineers and producers I looked up to. I wrote down the names and places and even tore out certain articles and kept them all in my briefcase. I told myself was going to be in these studios, I was going to know these people! I used that as motivation to work hard and try to perfect my craft. It is now such a surreal experience seeing my head with the “Mix” behind it. I humbly share this to thank @mixmag for the past inspirations as well as all the people that inspired me to make music. I will continue to push to live up to the standards you have set with hopes of always making you proud.

Thank you to all the members of the academy team that work so hard so we can represent this great organization. We are all really proud of the awards and the big show, but all the important work that happens the other 364 days of the year is equally, if not more, important. The advocacy for music people and fighting for their rights and their ability to make a fair living, the musicares programs that support music people in their times of need, the museum and all our educational initiatives – these things are so important! I’m happy and proud to stand and work w @valeisha and @panosapanay on these efforts to serve and lift up the music community that I’ve been fortunate to be a part of for over 25 years. Lots more work to do but we are on our way!

This pandemic has been long and very challenging. We obviously feel it’s negative effects but there have also been many silver linings. For me, one of those has been the opportunity to be in the moment and try to focus on whatever it is that brings happiness. Here, it is clearly beer for Post. Haha.
