In 1995 @thedanband (we were living in LA at the time) and I, found out I was pregnant. We decided to eat, go see a film, and let it sink in.
We drove to the Valley to see Antonia’s Line written and directed by the brillliant Marleen Gorris.
We were both 1/2 in and out of consciousness, holding hands tighter than usual- glued to the screen. Popcorn bits falling on my lap.
We left the theater, walked to the cement parking structure- and drove home. Our molecules forever changed.
Last night, for our 26th Valentine’s Day together… we were scrolling through the billion TV options and remembered we hadn’t seen it again, since that day– over 26 years ago.
It was the first film @samiatheband heard from my stomach. (R rated)
It’s an amazing, brave, brilliant, sexy, funny, devastating, and moving, human-forward film that went on to win the Oscar for Best Foreign Film and we won the “Sami” for best daughter in the world. I love you both. And still, I have popcorn bits on my lap.
