Dekha kata mishti!
Have you ever seen anything so sweet?
Thanks to my friend @nadiasamdani and her little one Maya for these adorable handmade saris from #Dhaka that put huge smiles on everyone’s faces.
…..
These charming little folk saris are from @brac.aarong (Bengali: আড়ং, lit. ’Village Fair’) a chain of Bangladeshi department stores specializing in Bengali ethnic wear and handicrafts run by the non-profit international development organization @bracworld
Head quartered in #Dhaka BRAC employs thousands of rural artisans across the country.
BRAC has operations in 12 countries and employs over 90,000 people, roughly 70 percent of whom are women, reaching more than 126 million people with its services. And that’s another reason to smile 😃

I come from a lineage of strong women on both sides of the bloodline.
Fiercest of all is my mother. Brimming with adventure and self determination even when life dealt her a blow that would shatter most.
I bow to all the mothers, the ancestors, the lineage that comes to us as shadow figures in dreams.

Beautiful, little wiggles.
This commissioned conceptual piece by Turner Prize nominated artist @lawrenceabuhamdan aka Private Ear, has haunted me since I saw it more than a month ago @sharjahart
…
Dubbed ‘Air Conditioning’ the wrap around, graduated images appear on first impression to be elaborate weather patterns but are actually based on data aggregated over 15 years of the Israeli army’s illegal occupation of Lebanese airspace expressed sonically or as the artist calls these textured visual renderings ‘atmospheric violence’. It really invited me to think about other sorts of aural invasions in the world and how that could be represented by visual iconography.
….
How can you not walk away with a jittery heart?
The art test for me is:
– does it bend your heart and/or your mind pitilessly like treetops on a windy day?
– do you remember it minutes and months after walking away?
