James Scully Instagram – My friends at @babecfireisland (a Black, brown and transgender led nonprofit) are putting together their second annual Juneteenth event weekend on Fire Island. The 3-day initiative will be packed w events that include a community discussion, fashion show, amazing dj’s, a drag pageant, a beach solidarity march and LOTS MORE.
BaBEC is an org that actively carves out and creates space for BIPOC and transgender people in the communities of Cherry Grove and Fire Island Pines by confronting the systems of gatekeeping that have prevented equitable access to tourism, commerce, employment opportunities, rentals, homeownership, entertainment and again… LOTS MORE.
