I loveeeee @strongblacklead and was so happy they allowed space for me to speak on something I’m so passionate about. The industry is definitely changing and becoming more inclusive but when I first moved to LA and started auditioning I noticed pretty quickly I was seeing a variation of the same type of girl that would be cast. Proximity to whiteness has its privileges, as we all know, and in this industry that correlates to more roles and more *variety* of roles. Zendaya speaks on colorism constantly 🙌🏿 and she stated it perfectly when she said “she is Hollywood’s acceptable version of a black girl and that has to change.” Representation should come in all shades. All black is beautiful 🤎
