Happy New Year, all! Quick thoughts in the last hours of the year: Even though it looks like the world has completely gone off it’s hinges (and parts of it probably has), there is so much goodness around (the news doesn’t spell that out, for the most part. It’s easy to believe that the madness we see unfolding is “normal”, and that there is no hope. But sanity, integrity and honesty grows all over the place. And there is so much hope!). So many people work to balance out the wrongness done on this planet. After the fog, comes clarity 😃 Simple thoughts – but sometimes that’s ok too. Keep your hearts soft in the New Year! ❤️
Kanskje passer ikke ett parti helt. Kanskje er vi ikke 100% enig i alt partilederen mener. Kanskje ønsker vi en annen type statsminister enn de vi har å velge mellom. Kanskje orker vi ikke en gang å involvere oss i politikk. Men vil jeg dypest sett noe for meg selv og de rundt meg? Ønsker jeg i det hele tatt noe? Står jeg for noen grunnverdier i livet mitt? Har jeg meninger om hvilken retning jeg vil at samfunnet vårt skal ta? Landet vårt? Ønsker jeg noe for kloden? . Vil vi noe, må vi handle. Som oftest, i hvert fall 😊 Å stemme ved stortingsvalg er en liten handling, som sammen med andre små handlinger, kan gi store utslag. Litt litt litt litt litt=mye. Og vet vi ikke konkret hvilket parti vi skal stemme på, kan vi kanskje stemme i en eller annen Retning. En Retning som resonnerer med våre grunnverdier. . I går forhåndsstemte jeg. En liten handling. Som sammen andres små handlinger skaper en hel HAUG med stemmesedler, TUNGE bunker med papirer – som kanskje tipper vektskåler 😃 Håper alle tar til urnene! // The Parliamentary election in Norway happens in September. Yesterday I voted early. In Norway we have many parties, all across the spectrum. Sometimes it can be easy to choose a party, other times more challenging. What party resonates the most with my core values? What do I wish for myself, for the people around me, my country, the earth, the world at large? For the most part; if we want something, we must do something. Voting is doing 😊 . We might not find a party, or a politician, that is a perfect fit for us on all matters. But we might vote in a Direction of something. A Direction that resonates with us. Vote!

Våren kommer. Hard evidence: Jeg beskar mitt morelltre for en uke siden, og tok inn noen greiner. Knoppene var vinterhutrete, innesluttede og overhodet ikke interessert i snarlig utspringing. En uke etter, etter varm modning i solvinduet: Ta-daaa! Hang in there, folkens. Våren ER der. Inni, levende, klar! . The winter is still present in Norway. I was pruning my cherry tree a week back, and put some of the branches inside. After being tickeled by the warm sun for a few days, it’s now blossoming. Spring WILL come. It’s there, within, alive, ready!

“Reclaim Earth” 🌱
I’m a part of an international art project benefiting mental health. Check out Decameron Row, www.decameronrow.com (link in bio). My video contribution is in Building 82, bottom right window. . Every artist was given a minute to express something about being in quarantine during this global situation we all share. The idea was inspired by Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375): . “While I was suffering, the pleasant conversation and invaluable consolation of certain friends gave me such relief that I am absolutely convinced that they are the reason I did not die”. . In “The Decameron” Boccaccio describes how a group of friends during the Black Plague in 14th- century Florence pass a 10-day forced quarantine by telling each other stories to pass the time; 10 people, 10 days, 100 tales. . Inspired by Boccaccio’s belief that sharing stories is a salve for isolation, 100 artists around the world were invited to contribute a short video to The Decameron Row. A collective record of this stormy year. . When will we deeply experience, and choose, that we are ONE people one this ONE, little planet spinning through space? The trail of Covid spells it out. Does it have to come to a nuclear disaster for us to be so shaken up that we pause for a minute… and ponder just that? That we are the same folks tumbling around? . The little choices we make in our everyday life, what we create, makes a difference. It just does 😊❤️ Go Mankind! (I mean it!)

Last night’s shooting at pubs in the centre of Oslo cost two people their lives and wounded many. The today’s celebration of love, freedom, the right to choose who we love – Oslo Pride Parade – is cancelled. We don’t know yet what the motive of the shooter was. But many feel fearful today. // A part of me wants to write: “No matter what others might say or do to you: You are free”. From one angel, I believe in that. We are free. But it can be hard to practice such a belief on days like this. // Roe vs Wade. Gun policy. Hunger. War. Hate towards people who love someone of their own gender. What we humans do to each other can be unfathomable. And it can feel as if we’re moving backwards. But I’m still full of hope, I am. // We are coming together. Perhaps we are to cry. In a safe space, perhaps we are to allow the anger. Let it harmlessly rumble through our bodies. Express sorrow. The emotions themselves don’t hurt anyone, perhaps they safely need to be felt. And on the other side, after a while, we can keep doing the work. Together. Protecting our rights. Together. With open hands, and a gentle touch, protecting our rights. And our freedom.
