11 years. It was a pivotal point in my career. 11 years before this photo was taken I’d been on hundreds of auditions, taken rejection after rejection, attended countless classes and workshops, and never stopped fighting to get better at what I loved to do. And it wouldn’t have been possible without my family pushing me to be better. So Be heard. Be strong. And be proud. Stand up for what you believe in. The rebels. When I was 12 years old, I was going out on hundreds of auditions but hadn’t booked anything. Looking for any work I could find, I became an extra. Once, my mom and I drove over 8 hours from Atlanta to Louisiana so I could play a dead body in a horror movie. I didn’t have any lines; all I had to do was lay there and look dead. However, after driving all that way, they decided that I looked too old for the role and sent me home. Facing rejection after rejection wasn’t easy, but I was passionate and determined to succeed. After getting turned away for the extra work, we still pushed on and drove to Nashville for an open casting call — and that’s where I met Disney Channel casting director Judy Taylor. You can guess what happened from there… Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up.” Hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice in the name of doing what you love will pay off — it just may not happen as quickly as you want it to.
The past 10 days have been some of the most memorable. I was invited by @vinfastofficial to explore the beautiful country of Vietnam, experience the culture, and witness the Vinfast factories in action. Here are some photos from our final beach gala dinner where I spoke about our trip and gave a toast alongside @supercarblondie, Thuy Le (CEO Vinfast), and Nguyen Viet Quang (CEO VinGroup). It’s amazing to see the rate of innovation at which Vinfast is producing EV cars. They started their EV lineup only 2 years ago and have just recently committed to building a factory in North Carolina which will bring 7500 jobs to American workers. And they have promised to exclusively produce electric vehicles by the end of this year!
