Well hello. Guess what? I’ve added a third show at @rockwoodmusichall next month. In addition to my two sets opening for @pattenlauren on June 3rd and 5th, I’ll also be playing on Saturday, June 18th at 8:30 PM in the lovely Stage 2. Gonna be sangin’ some songs tonight at @berlin.undernyc if my busted finger allows it. If not then I’ll be doing my first ever spoken word/standup comedy/slam poetry/free association monologuing set in NYC ever. Which one of those is more worth witnessing? You be the judge!
Guitar player in my band got Covid so I decided to do the set solo acoustic but then I slammed my finger trying to close a window before the gig and couldn’t even fret a chord without pain so I made the call to try and do a spoken word set. Insane. But the show must go on. So I read the lyrics of several of my newest songs and also decided to do the Indianapolis Speech from Jaws at the last minute. Thought I might be on stage for 5 minutes if I was lucky before they pulled the plug. Lasted 40. Only because people showed up and listened. One of my favorite New York City nights I’ve had in 20 years of living here. Thanks.

HIDDEN RING • A JGJ Original • Sharing a brand new song with an audience is always a little scary. Turns out that scariness is massively amplified when you simply speak the lyrics aloud. Truly never thought I would do something like this in a million years but life handed me lemons in the form of a covid positive guitar player and a smashed left pointer finger and here we are. Thank you SO MUCH to the crowd at Berlin last night. You gave me such a gift by showing up and being supportive and listening to me ramble. And thank you to @theo_stockman for capturing this strange and singular night on camera.
