After Tiger King aired one of the most common misconceptions I heard from the millions of people who responded to the show was that captive breeding of tigers at roadside zoos and backyard menageries was saving the tiger from extinction. The ignorant observation was that breeding more tigers means saving them from extinction but this article explains why that’s not the case. We have a majority already in the House with 258 Co Sponsors (52 are Republicans) so it is a bipartisan bill that will pass the Democratic controlled House this week, BUT it has to pass in the Senate too and they will be looking at how many Republicans actually care enough to vote for the bill. They may not even consider it unless they see a lot more than the current 52 supporting it because Republicans control the Senate. Shortly before the World Premiere of our film @officialsbiff, #jackhanna suddenly retired from public life. Coincidence? We don’t think so. Our film went on to win the Social Justice Award, and later, the Columbus Zoo lost its #AZA accreditation in part due to Jack’s behavior and the film’s impact. And yet, Jack is still considered by many to be a national icon despite misleading the public for decades about where he gets his ambassador animals and where they go.
