Laurie Fortier Instagram – Summer of ‘90. I spent the summer in France living with a family as an exchange student.
This was before cell phones. Before google translate. I arrived at the train stop in a small village at the age of 16 with only a photograph and a brief description of my “family”- these strangers I was about to spend 2 months with…They didn’t speak a lick of english and my French was pretty basic. But they were lovely and we somehow managed to communicate. Over food and cigarettes. My brother Olivier was cool. We played video games and listened to metal.
