Not my plans, but His perfect plan is in motion. I have not always exercised perfect obedience, but even through that have come the lessons, example and fortitude necessary to move me past the next test. Here’s to another trip around the sun. This will be the year of VICTORY. I am declaring victory over EVERYTHING! Victory over my ego, over my struggles, over my self doubts and my deepest fears. I am declaring victory over all of life’s obstacles, tests, challenges and roadblocks. This is my cross to bare and I am declaring the VICTORY over it all! Watch Him work… 🙏🏾🔥🙌🏾

Andrew Gillum Instagram – Kicking off this new school year for the kids in prayer and praise. We were truly blessed by Rev. Dr. Jullius McAllister’s sermon – taken from Genesis and themed, “God’s plans will always defeat the plots and plans of your enemy. Always!” It was a powerful and reassuring reminder of a phrase we all often hear, but rarely internalize; that the battle is not ours, it belongs to the Lord 🙌🏾!

I believe it and receive it 🙏🏾.

Praying for the health and safety of the dedicated staff, teachers, administrators, bus drivers, janitors, aides, crossing guards, school volunteers and every selfless individual who makes supporting and educating our children look easy.

I’m rooting for the success of my new kindergartener and twin 3rd graders; but I’m also rooting for yours. Education truly is one of those unique places where we all do better, when we each Do Better.

Onward Always!
Andrew Gillum Instagram – ONE MORE ROUND…

The word “grit” is not used much anymore. A shame. It’s a great word.

As a noun, it means “courage and resolve; strength of character.” But as a verb, it’s even better:

clench (the teeth), especially in order to keep one’s resolve when faced with an unpleasant or painful duty

James Corbett had grit. So did Peter Jackson. What else can explain the force of will it takes to shuffle to the center of the ring after having fought 30 rounds already. Bloodied, wobbling on rubbery legs that lost their vigor 15 rounds before, peering through swollen eyes at a man who simply won’t back down.

Grit is what makes a person think, “I’ll do whatever it takes, fatigue be damned. If I must fight 30 more rounds, so be it. I will not be beaten.”

The next time you’re ready to throw in the towel. The next time the setbacks pile up so fast that it makes you wonder why you thought it was a good idea to chase the dream in the first place. The next time you’re curled up in the fetal position wondering, “How much longer can I go on?”

Grit your teeth. Set your jaw.

And fight one more round.
