Austin Stowell Instagram – My sweet, big boy has said goodbye to this life. Gus was so much more to me than just my dog. He got me through the hardest parts of my life with his steadfast, unending love. My last words to him were, “I love you. Thank you for everything.” Those words do not even start to come close to showing my gratitude for the 11 years he spent with me. Gus sniffed the air deeply at the scent of the ocean, the crisp air of the mountains, and whatever was cooking on the stove. He welcomed people at first sight with a hard lean and longing stare wanting to show his affection. He appreciated the value of good nap only known by the satisfied who have been worn out by the joys of life. He adventured with me from the Atlantic to the Pacific and everywhere in between. The beaches of The Gulf, the mountains of Canada, the sidewalks of New York, LA, Chicago, the deserts of New Mexico, the green peaks of Vermont, the slopes of Utah, and the the shores of New England at large. Gus was friend to all but I was always selfishly happy he chose me. So now it’s my turn to honor his life by loving hard, earning my naps, and taking the time to put my nose in the air and appreciate the simple gifts of life. I will love you forever and ever, Bubba.
