New human alert!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️Dimity Facente Hearst-Hardwick HAS ARRIVED TODAY❤️❤️❤️❤️ Lyds loved this picture so much she requested I post it to let everyone know that she and baby are doing great! The experience of watching Lydia go through pregnancy and give birth to our sweet little peanut was humbling and inspiring. She is an absolute warrior and I am grateful, blessed, and honored! The first moment seeing and hearing our child after all this time is indelibly imprinted onto my soul. Holy crap this whole process is amazing! Delivery was originally scheduled for Feb 9 but the baby’s development had plateaued, the placenta had hardened, her fluid reserves were low, and she was breech so they took her out a wee bit early at just over 37 weeks. Lyds is happy, Dimity is perfect and I am over the moon with love for the both of them. 👶🏻✨🥳 #dadsofinstagram
“Delivery attire but make it formal.” I needed to be comfortable for the 24 hours I was awake yesterday but OF COURSE I had to class it up for Dimity’s first day on Earth!

Happy 1st Father’s Day to all the new dads out there! As you can see, I’m rocking the daddest sweater I own on mine. This little bee is pure joy and I absolutely love being her dad! #fathersday #argyle #cardigan #cardigyle #dadsofinstagram
We’re home, settling in, and everyone is doing well! Being parents has been amazing and Dimity really is just the sweetest little bebeh. This video is some footage of things being assembled in the nursery over the last few months. This was when it was a work in progress so ultimately not the final set-up. Still, some fun adorable stuff in here! A friend sent me some lullabies to learn on piano so I’ve been practicing them! This one is a short arrangement of a piece called “Liebestraum” by Franz Liszt. Sidenote: there’s a hiss in the recording because it was raining outside when I made it. I was going to redo it but @lydialhearst thought it sounded cool, like an old record, so I left it the way it was! #piano #classicalpiano #CheckLiszt #baby #dadsofinstagram

I think I’m mid-sentence saying, “Hey I don’t think I’ve taken one of these on set in a while!!” It was such a blast to be live with an audience again for the mid-season finale of @amcthewalkingdead. Many thanks to @bigbaldhead, @laurencohan (I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 11 years already) and to new pal @jhamilton who is a super nice and funny fella. #walkingdead #thewalkingdead
Hall H! I can’t believe it’s been since 2019. THREE WHOLE YEARS! But you were just as wonderful as you always were if not more so. I am thankful for you and thankful we got to do this one in person. Thank you for a wonderful final @amcthewalkingdead panel. I almost made it through without getting choked up! But then at the very end, it hit me: this is the last time we’d all be on that stage together as a group. It will forever be a cherished memory. I hope you had as much fun as we did!! ❤️🧟♂️ #sdcc2022

Hey it was our Anniversary yesterday! Six years ago I was lucky enough to marry my favorite person, @lydiahearst. (she is now co-favorite with the tiny human we made). Instead of just buying an object as a present, I wanted to put the time, care, love, and energy into something for her that I always see her put into for me and anyone else she cares about. I spent the last couple months compiling photos and videos from the history of our relationship after she fell asleep each night, pulling them into iMovie, exporting them into an old timey camera app on my phone called Vintage Film Camera Retro Art to give it a dreamy feel, then back into iMovie for editing to create a somewhat chronological “Story Of Us” kinda thing. As I scrolled through thousands of photos I was reminded that A) we’ve had so many wonderful adventures together! and B) everyone takes pics ALL DAY EVERY DAY but how often do we go back and relive those moments? We collect but rarely reflect. It was a wonderful journey to get to experience this gift of a partner through eight years’ worth of images (and hopefully Dimity will appreciate watching her dorky parents being young folk someday). Every day I am thankful to go through life with this wonderful woman and have been overjoyed to start the new chapter of parenthood with her this year. The song I’m playing is called “Wind Song” by @ludovico_einaudi. When I first heard it in the Spring, I instantly fell in love with it and knew I had to learn it. I read that to achieve the specific ethereal sonic quality of the original song, Einaudi added extra felt to the hammers on his piano. I tried to get as close as I could by playing with the mute pedal engaged. I don’t know if I really do his composition any great service, but I did my best! If you want to hear how it’s SUPPOSED to be played, his album is called “Underwater” and it’s gorgeous, btw. TL;DR I love my wife a lot a lot so I made a thing to celebrate that fact ♥️ 📸 credits for pics we didn’t take: @tylershields, @kaelanbarowsky, @mtranphoto, @alberto_rawdriguez, @jblacroix, @niedermueller_photography, @merrittography special thanks to @opusorange for recording me on the keys
Congratulations to all of the wonderful Emmy nominees today! I am currently celebrating getting thrown up on by my baby. Thank you to Dimity Hearst-Hardwick, milk, and mushy vegetables for this most prestigious honor!!
I got SOOO CLOSE to the end! But there was one spot that I almost always messed up. Somehow, I finally got through it, which surprised me enough that I exclaimed internally “holy shit I did it!” which then prompted me to completely lose my place and forget how my hands work. But this is the journey of learning new skillsets! I think one of the most important things you can conquer is overcoming head chatter. You can possess all of the mechanical skill in the world, but that’s only half the battle. The rest is what’s going on in between your ears. Sometimes it’s helpful, and sometimes it’s Abe Simpson shouting “YER GONNA BLOW IT!” right when you get to the hard part of the routine. I see so many great pianists here on the Instagrams and I always think, “How are they playing that while filming and not messing up?? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!” But I’m sure it’s dedication and time spent practicing and trial and error and occasionally swearing at the piano just like the rest of us. One of the many things I love about piano is that it really demands you to be wholly present. It’s REALLLLLY hard to do when you’re not (for me, anyway), especially when you’re learning. I still haven’t mastered not getting super nervous when I’m recording or anyone is watching me play, but it’s all part of the process! A great big fun (and often frustrating) journey. But if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t appreciate those times when we DON’T get in our own way and actually accomplish the thing! PS I like how I still haven’t learned how to frame properly and for most of the video it looks like a sentient nose is playing. TL;DR this piece is “The Wild Horseman” by Robert Schumann
