Two weeks ago we conducted an IRL master class/ workshop at my favorite studio in Los Angeles, which I’ve been wanted to do for a while. Timing has an interesting way of presenting the right moment… for me it was 15 years from the start of my career.
We curated a 4 day experience using real application and philosophies I incorporate into every session. This included prep, vocal recording/production, mixing, Atmos/spatial and a well overlooked topic… the wind down.
Operational standards were met daily and every question was answered.

While everyone was deciding whether or not to get into Atmos, we took it on early to get ahead and smooth out any issues in real time with real projects. Mixing the entire @justinbieber catalog in Atmos is one of those examples. Our goal was to keep the integrity of the original mixes everyone has grown accustomed to while still expanding in the format. Very proud of this entire body of work, plus the vision and team it took to get the job done.

@herbtrawick talked about career longevity, nurturing relationships, taking your shot when opportunity presents itself and the gift of giving back.
@beckermastering spoke about deep listening both passive and actively. How failures can shape your career positively, mastering approaches and the care and passion he has for every song.
@deniskosiak gave a presentation focusing on his process of vocal recording, editing, melodyne, and getting sessions up to the high standard he does with every song. A lot of details go in to managing a vocal session.
@teezio and I did a “fireside” chat focusing on career path and the journey. Like me he transitioned from tracking to mixing. Working thousands of songs enabled us to operate intuitively fast and over time, naturally developing skills on the mixing side.
