My first foray into the fine arts world that aims to insert the often uncredited unseen and erased #blackwoman aka the “muslin” aka the foundation of American culture in spaces where our contributions have been discarded.
Just want to thank some key artisans who helped to make this happen!
@elizabethcolomba who’s amazing renderings of my room helped fortify my vision. This is just her first sketch. The final illustration you shall see is breathtaking! Also crafting my gorgeously haunting black cherubs in a pinch!
@peterkimpeterkim my producer who always fought to get me what I needed to take this concept out of my head and into the #haverhill room as a reality.
@denise.trotman who created a daggon bead grid graphic out this piece! A literal map for the #wegoodthx! bead quilt in homage of #mariebendolph an 88 year old geesbend quilter. The beads are inspired by her “Work-clothes quilt” c. 2002.
